Learn to drive in Doha. Leave with your Qatar licence.

Al Nasr Driving Academy in Mawater City prepares new drivers and professionals for nine Qatar licence categories, with male and female instructors and all-in prices from QAR 1,950.

How do I get a driving licence in Qatar?

Pass an eye test, then register at a driving school with your Qatar ID and your sponsor’s NOC on Metrash. Attend theory lessons and pass the theory test, complete your practical training, then pass the parking (L and P) and road tests. Finally, issue your licence on Metrash. You must be 18 for a car or motorcycle and 21 for heavy vehicles and equipment.

Questions new drivers ask

All questions

How old do I need to be to get a driving licence in Qatar?

18 for a car (light vehicle) or motorcycle licence. 21 for heavy vehicles, buses and equipment such as forklifts, excavators and cranes.

What documents do I need to register?

Your Qatar ID (or passport and visa copy), a no-objection certificate from your sponsor on Metrash, passport-size photos and an eye test result. Bring your home-country licence too if you have one — it may qualify you for a shorter course.

How does my sponsor issue the NOC?

On Metrash: Traffic → Licence services → Licence NOC. They enter your QID or visa number, choose "New issue" and the licence category, then confirm. Qatari men do not need an NOC; for Qatari women the guardian issues it.

Can I convert my driving licence from another country in Qatar?

Yes, if it is valid and issued by one of 33 approved countries (including the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, most of Western Europe, Japan and Singapore) — no course or test needed. GCC licences go straight to a road test, and most other licences qualify for the half course. Use the checker on our licence conversion page.

What is the difference between Standard, Fast Track and VIP?

All three cover the same curriculum and number of classes. Fast Track shortens the waiting time between lessons and adds optional door-to-door pickup. VIP adds priority lesson and road-test dates with no waiting list, a premium car and simulator training.

Who can take the half course?

The half course needs approval from the Traffic Department. It is usually granted to people who already hold a licence from another country. Bring your licence and we will check your eligibility.

Do you have female instructors?

Yes. Car courses are available with male or female instructors. A female trainee with a male instructor may bring a male guardian to lessons.
